Laidback hip-hop combo Arrested Development are set to visit Exeter Phoenix this autumn.
The group was founded in the late Eighties by rapper Speech who decided to make the transition to a more positive, afro-centric viewpoint after hearing Public Enemy.
Arrested Development‘s debut album, 3 Years, 5 Months & 2 Days in the Life Of…, boasted the hits Tennessee, People Everyday, and Mr. Wendal - all of which hit the Top Ten. The long player went on to sell over four million copies.
The group won two Grammy Awards in 1993 for Best New Artist and Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group, and were also named Band of the Year by Rolling Stone magazine.
After 1994′s critically acclaimed Grammy-nominated Zingalamaduni, the group took a five-year break. They reunited in 2000 and released their sixth studio album, Strong, last year.
Catch Arrested Development at Exeter Phoenix on October 15. Ticket costs £14 from the Phoenix website.
