Award-winning theatre company ATC returns to the Plymouth Drum this autumn with Ivan and the Dogs.
Written by Hattie Naylor, the play tells an extraordinary true story of endurance and friendship.
In a recession-ravaged city, what do you do when the money runs out? Ivan and the Dogs is based on the story of Ivan Mishukov, who walked out of his Moscow apartment at the age of four and spent two years living on the city streets where he was adopted by a pack of wild dogs.
Ivan and the Dogs is a spellbinding tale of survival and co-dependence in a hostile environment; an environment where the petty cruelties that man visits upon his fellow man are contrasted with the innocence and cohesion of a child and his canine protectors.
Ivan and his dogs are on the outside of the outside living a feral existence sustained only by their friendship and mutual support.
Known for their award winning The Brothers Size in 2007 and Eurydice earlier this year, ATC continues to celebrate contemporary new playwriting with an international focus.
Ivan and the Dogs is at the Drum Theatre Plymouth from September 29 to October 2. Tickets are available on the Theatre Royal Plymouth website.
