Rich Hall coming to Plough Arts Centre in Torrington (news)

Deadpan American comic Rich Hall returns to the West Country this autumn as part of an extensive UK tour.

The Edinburgh Fringe favourite and Perrier Award winner recently appeared in the critically acclaimed BBC4 documentaries Rich Hall’s The Dirty South and How The West Was Lost.

He also stars in Channel 4′s new topical late night show, Stand Up For The Week, and has made numerous appearances on QI, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, 8 Out Of 10 Cats and Have I Got News For You.

As the inspiration behind Matt Groening‘s character Moe Szyslak from The Simpsons, Rich’s renowned grouchy, desert-dry comedy style has won critical acclaim across the globe.

Rich is a master of absurdist irony – he particularly likes to lay into Americans and life across the pond at every opportunity.

This tour will see Rich leave his hillbilly alter-ego Otis Lee Crenshaw at home, but you can still expect the usual grumpily disillusioned spontaneity and politically-aware rants – with a few songs thrown in for good measure.

Rich Hall visits the Plough Arts Centre in Torrington on November 26. For more details see the Plough website.
