The X Factor boyband One Direction are heading to Plymouth Pavilions in 2012 as part of their first UK tour.

Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zain Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne applied as solo artists in the Boys category last year, and only got a second chance after guest judge Nicole Scherzinger and Simon Cowell suggested they form a band together.

They got picked in boot camp and made it through to the live finals where they finished in third place.

Following the show, the group signed a £2million record contract and participated in the X Factor Live Tour.

Their debut single, What Makes You Beautiful, entered the UK Singles Chart at number 1, becoming the fastest selling single of the year and shifting 153,000 copies.

Harry said of the tune: “We wanted to release something that wasn’t cheesy but it was fun. It kind of represented us. It took us a while to find it but I think we found the right song.”

One Direction hit Plymouth Pavilions on January 5, 2012. Tickets cost £27.50 and £19.50 and go on sale at 10am on October 1, 2011, from the Pavilions website.
