Comedian Rhod Gilbert is set to bring his new show, The Man With The Flaming Battenburg Tattoo, to Plymouth, Torquay and Truro in 2012.

Rhod Gilbert‘s stand-up rants on life’s minor irritations are legendary, but this year, he’s a more mellow fellow altogether. He’s now so laid-back he even let someone tattoo a Battenberg on him!

Will the new, chilled-out Rhod get his girl and live happily ever after, or will it be microwaved baked potato for one again? Could it be the Mr Angry of comedy as you’ve never seen him before?

The show follows the sell-out success of last year’s Cat That Looked Like Nicholas Lyndhurst tour and sensational performances on The Royal Variety Performance, Live At The Apollo, and Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow.

Rhod’s rant about lost luggage is one of the hottest stand-up clips on YouTube – attracting almost 4.5million viewers.

Rhod also appears at number six on leading comedy website Chortle’s top ten comedy clips list – the only British comedian featured.

On TV screens Rhod has hosted Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Live At The Apollo, and has also made multiple appearances on 8 Out Of 10 Cats, Would I Lie To You, and Mock The Week.

He recently starred in Rhod Gilbert’s Work Experience, which saw him trying his hand at ‘everyday jobs’, ranging from a bin man to a hairdresser, to mum-for a day and a soldier in an overnight exercise in the Brecon Beacons. He also hosted two series of Ask Rhod Gilbert for the BBC.

Rhod Gilbert brings The Man With The Flaming Battenburg Tattoo to Plymouth Pavilions on April 18, 2012; Princess Theatre Torquay on April 19, 2012; and Hall for Cornwall Truro on June 1, 2012. Tickets  go on sale at 9am on December 5, 2011.
