Russell Watson to celebrate Queen's Diamond Jubilee at Plymouth Pavilions (news)

Britain’s favourite tenor Russell Watson will perform a tribute to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee at Plymouth Pavilions in 2012.

Joined by special guests Laura Wright and the London Concert Orchestra, Russell will sing You’ll Never Walk Alone, Men of Harlech, Land of Hope and Glory, and Rule Britannia as well as a selection of his own hits.

The self-styled ‘People’s Tenor’ has sold millions of albums worldwide with his trademark mixture of Italian arias and pop classics.

Recognised as the UK’s biggest selling classical artist of the 21st century, he has broken a succession of records.

Russell’s debut album The Voice, released in 2000, reached number five in the UK pop charts and broke worldwide records by holding the number one position in the classical chart for a year. It was only knocked off by his follow-up album Encore.

Encore went multi-platinum in the UK staying at the number one spot in the classical chart for 30 weeks. It also achieved multi-platinum status in New Zealand and Ireland.

His most recent album,  La Voce – the Italian for his famous Voice nickname – reached number 13 in the UK album charts back in 2010.

Russell Watson hits Plymouth Pavilions on June 8, 2012. Tickets cost £60, £40 or £29.50 from the Pavilions website.
