Pop-punkers Ash are set to celebrate their 20th anniversary at Exeter Phoenix this summer.

Ash have lost none of the energy that saw them debut on Top Of The Pops while awaiting their A-level results.

Formed in Downpatrick, Northern Ireland by Tim Wheeler, Mark Hamilton and Rick McMurray, Ash released their first studio album, 1977 back in 1996, and were then joined by guitarist Charlotte Hatherley for a further three studio albums.

The guys have enjoyed 18 top 40 hits, including Shining Light, Goldfinger, Oh Yeah, Angel Interceptor, and Girl From Mars, and two number one albums.

Heralded as ‘the ultimate singles band’, the trio turned their back on the traditional route of recording an album every couple of years and set up their own studio and label, Atomic Heart Records.

This new-found freedom enabled the band to record and release songs at will, leading to the A-Z Series – a collection of 26 songs released fortnightly for an entire year.

Charlotte Hatherley left the band in 2006 but returned last year for a one-off tour of the Free All Angels album to much acclaim.

Ash hit Exeter Phoenix on June 5, 2012. Tickets are on sale now.
