Chart-topping singer-songwriter Newton Faulkner is set to visit Exeter University Great Hall this autumn as part of his second UK tour of 2012.

Newton is currently recording his third studio album, titled Writing It On Your Skin, at his home studio. It is set for release on July 9. He also recently released an EP named Sketches, which contained three new tracks.

Newton Faulkner makes soulful and heartfelt acoustic blues with a pop edge and a distinctively laid-back style.

Hailed by many as the ‘next Jack Johnson‘, his music covers many genres, including folk, blues, soul and country.

The gold-selling musician found fame with the release of his 2007 debut album Hand Built By Robots, which went to number one in the UK album chart.

The record included hits such as Dream Catch Me, I Need Something and a cover of Massive Attack‘s hugely popular Teardrop.

He followed this up with the 2009 BRIT-nominated Rebuilt By Humans. The title came about after Faulkner completely dislocated his right hand while on a skiing holiday, nearly bringing an end to his guitar playing career.

The star was last in the region a few weeks back for gigs at Princess Pavilion Falmouth and O2 Academy Bristol.

Newton Faulkner hits Great Hall Exeter on October 20, 2012. Tickets go on sale at 9am on May 25, 2012.
