Top-selling rock band James will be joined by special guests Echo & The Bunnymen at Colston Hall Bristol in 2013 as part of the Gathering Sound UK tour.
James‘s lead singer Tim Booth said: “It is with great pleasure that we announce our Gathering Sound tour with the legendary Echo & The Bunnymen as our very special guests.
“We will be re-working old songs and revealing some new steps – expect the unexpected and prepare yourself for more passion than Fifty Shades Of Grey!”
James formed in 1982 but were most successful during the Nineties when they released their hit singles and popular indie anthems Sit Down and She’s A Star. Indeed, the band have sold more than 25 million albums worldwide.
Following the departure of Booth in 2001, a five-year hiatus followed until the band reformed in 2007 recording a new album and embarking on a new international tour.
James are due to release their first box set, encompassing the whole of their 30-year history, on December 10.
The Gathering Sound heralds the debut of 12 previously-unreleased songs, including lost classic Gregory’s Town, Scratchcard, their second-ever demo Willow, Count Your Blessings, I Thought You Were, the thrillingly-titled Jam 1 and Jam 2, and excerpts from the infamous (perhaps even scandalous) Whiplash Tapes.
Live rarities include highlights from the 1992 Alton Towers gig before a crowd of 30,000 ecstatic (if somewhat sodden) James fans, Glastonbury 1990, Brixton Academy, Manchester Apollo, London Town and Country and more, as well as vintage live favourite Burned, recorded at Moles Club in Bath in 1988.
James and Echo & The Bunnymen hit Colston Hall Bristol on April 17, 2013. Tickets go on sale at 10am on November 23, 2012.
