Mercury-nominated singer-songwriter Ed Harcourt will visit Colston Hall Bristol this spring to support the release of his new album Back Into The Woods.
The inimitable Ed Harcourt releases his new single, Hey Little Bruiser, March 25, via CCCLX, the new label set up by Sean Adams, founder of Drowned in Sound.
It’s a highlight of the sublime new LP Back Into The Woods, which was recorded in just six hours at the iconic Abbey Road studios and is set for release on February 25.
A soaring, piano-led ode to his son Franklyn, Hey Little Bruiser features guest violin from Ed’s wife Gita Harcourt and delivers standout line ‘you got the good bits from your mother and the bad parts from me’, in typically self-deprecating fashion.
Influenced by the likes of Tom Waits, Nick Cave, and Jeff Buckley, Harcourt’s debut album, Here Be Monsters, was nominated for the 2001 Mercury Prize.
Special guest support at Colston Hall is Catherine A.D. who mixes stirring pop hooks, hand claps, snarls of guitar, glimmers of keyboard and serrated vocal somersaults into her cauldron of midnight piano and treacly growling – a voice that Courtney Love has described as ‘gorgeous sick beautiful’.
Ed Harcourt hits Colston Hall Bristol on May 29, 2013. Tickets go on sale at 9am on February 15, 2013.
