Hotly-tipped singer-songwriter Jake Bugg is set to visit Plymouth Pavilions this autumn as part of his biggest UK tour so far.
Nominated in the British breakthrough category at this week’s Brit Awards and still only 18 years old, Jake Bugg found fame after an appearance on the BBC Introducing Stage at last year’s Glastonbury Festival.
Hailing from Nottingham, he picked up the guitar at just 12 years old and since then, the young romantic has been pouring out spine-tingling tunes way beyond his years.
Following his Glastonbury performance, Jake signed to Mercury Records and unveiled his debut single Trouble Town, which Zane Lowe instantly made his Single of the Week.
Support for Jake has continued to grow with fans including new-music lovers Huw Stephens and Steve Lamacq.
His critically-acclaimed debut self-titled album recently entered the UK Albums Chart at number one.
The record also charted in Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
NME‘s Barry Nicolson gave the album a 9/10, praising the record’s ‘uncommon wit, insight and melody’, while BBC‘s Chris Roberts said Bugg’s ‘voice, with its hint of Gene Pitney, is a piercing, precise tool which lifts him above the laddish milieu’.
He recently announced he’ll be appearing at the Reading/Leeds Festival, and he’ll be supporting The Stone Roses this summer.
Jake Bugg hits Plymouth Pavilions on October 20, 2013. Tickets go on sale at 9am on February 21, 2013.
