Kingsbridge Community College: Fresh Insights at Harbour House in Kingsbridge

Fresh Insights, the eighth annual exhibition by Kingsbridge Community College, is at Harbour House in Kingsbridge this spring.

Fresh Insights gives VI Form students at Kingsbridge Community College the opportunity to show off coursework produced for AS and A2 Level studies.

Fine Art students in Year 12 have been exploring the themes ‘Water’, ‘Film Posters’ and ‘Fantastic Forms’.

From a variety of starting points, each student has followed a personal direction, and the exhibition will include paintings, photographs and large mixed media sculptures.

Year 12 Art Textiles students have developed an innovative range of two- and three-dimensional pieces in response to studies of plants and flowers.

Year 13 Photography students develop their own projects using film and digital cameras, exploring the possibilites of both traditional darkroom facilities and sophisticated computer software.

Themes include ‘Playing with Light’, ‘Throwaway Society’, ‘People’ and ‘Mixed Media’.

Harbour House is grateful to Kingsbridge Town Council for its contribution towards the costs of staging this exhibition, and to the volunteers who help with gallery stewarding.

Picture shows photography by student Sophie Hurst.

Fresh Insights is at Harbour House in Kingsbridge from March 12 to 16, 2013. Admission is free – see the Harbour House website for details.
