Pop star Dizzee Rascal is the latest act announced for the 2014 Eden Sessions at the Eden Project in St Austell.
Dizzee Rascal, also known as Dylan Mills, released his fifth studio album, titled The Fifth, in September last year and it became his fourth consecutive record to reach the top ten.
The Fifth spawned the top-ten singles Goin’ Crazy, featuring Robbie Williams, and Something Really Bad, featuring will.i.am.
To date, he has enjoyed four number-one singles, all from his fourth album Tongue n’ Cheek.
These included his massive collaboration with Calvin Harris and Chrome, Dance Wiv Me, and Bonkers, a track featuring dance megastar Armand Van Helden.
His BRIT Awards mash-up, You’ve Got the Dirtee Love, performed at the 2010 ceremony with Florence And The Machine, made it to number two in the UK.
Known for his collaborations, Dizzee has also worked with Shakira, Jessie J, Basement Jaxx, DJ Fresh and many more.
Boy In Da Corner, Dizzee’s 2003 debut, won that year’s Mercury Prize – an award for which he was nominated again in 2007 for his third record Maths + English and in 2010 for his follow-up album Tongue n’ Cheek.
In 2010 he was named Best British Male Solo Artist at the BRIT Awards.
Confirming his place at the top table of UK music, Dizzee was one of the artists to perform at the opening ceremony of the London Olympic Games in 2012.
Dizzee joins Ellie Goulding (July 8) on the 2014 Eden Sessions bill with more headliners to be announced soon.
The Eden Sessions enter its 13th year in 2014 following an acclaimed series of gigs in 2013 headlined by Jessie J, Sigur Ros, The xx, Kaiser Chiefs and Eddie Izzard.
Last year also saw the launch of Eden Sessions TV, a dedicated free-to-view online channel featuring regularly-updated videos of some of the gigs’ finest shows.
Dizzee Rascal hits the Eden Sessions on June 21, 2014. Tickets go on general sale at 6pm on February 11, 2014, from the Eden Sessions website.
